Film Screening & Discussion - Can’t Stop Change: Queer Climate Stories from the Florida Front Lines

Can't Stop Change follows the production team on a road trip across Florida (and the new Florida diaspora) to meet with 14 LGBTQ2S+ artists, organizers, and activists, uplifting their stories of resistance, joy, and liberation.

As another volatile legislative season comes to a close, Can't Stop Change depicts the real-world impact of attacks on queer, trans, and other marginalized communities in Florida. Simultaneously, the film examines the ways that policy disasters worsen the effects of natural disasters, such as Florida's historic Hurricane Ian. Through place-based interviews on rising seas, stronger storms, and escalating state violence in Florida and beyond, the film articulates a timely intersectional climate justice narrative.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmaker Yarrow Koning (they/them), a queer, trans, and non-binary environmental educator and multimedia storyteller currently based in Decatur, Georgia. Yarrow holds a Master of Education in Environmental Education from Florida Atlantic University and specializes in environmental education that centers equity, justice, queer ecologies, and multispecies liberation. Yarrow is the Co-Director and Impact Campaign Coordinator for the film.
