Black Sonic Culture—Analog to Digital

The course will examine the production, reproduction and distribution Black (African Diasporic) “Sound”—inclusive of, but not exclusive of various musical cultures—in the creation of Black Sonic Culture(s) that were in conversation with and counter to Black Literary Culture, Black Visual Culture and Black Performance traditions. The course, in particular, will examine the impact on the transition from analog sound to digital sound. One course / 3 units.
